Capturing Kids' Hearts Survey
Please log into your account with Capturing Kids Hearts and complete the 4-question survey! Once you log on, click on the "Start Strong" Heart. It won't take you more than 2 minutes and would be wonderful information for me to have. The 4 questions automatically pop up when you click on the heart.

Homecoming - Thank Yous
As so many of your know, it takes quite a team to put on a successful Homecoming. Please help me in thanking Erin Harper, Jane Jonte, Bryan Duncan, Greg Taylor, Allie Choiniere, Auggie Trevino, our WONDERFUL maintenance team, our incredible chaperones, and everyone who gave up their time and energy to help. Our students had a wonderful time and it was a joy to see!

Join PTSO
We would love for you to join our PTSO. There is a membership for Faculty and Staff and we always strive for 100% participation! You can complete THIS form or there will be printed copies of the form (and envelopes) in the workroom beginning this evening.

Kairos Letter Writing
Our first Kairos Retreat is October 5th - 8th.  As many of you know a huge part of the students' experience is receiving surprise/secret letters from you.  It is more important for the attendees to receive letters but you are welcome to write letters to the leaders, too!

Please take time to review the list of students attending and write a letter to the ones you know! Once completed you can drop them off in Allie Choiniere's Office by Tuesday, October 3rd. There will be writing supplies in the workroom next week.

Needs Assessment From the Counselors
Please take a few minutes and complete THIS form for our counselors. This is hugely helpful as they are planning their programming for the year!

Procedures When a Substitute is Needed
Please review the information below from our Faculty/Staff Handbook to ensure the correct procedures are happening when you will be absent and need a substitute.

If you find that it is impossible for you to be at work on a certain day because of illness or other reasons, we need to know as soon as you know. Contact the sub-coordinator (Julie Hokins) and your Department Chair as soon as possible.

**If you are going to be absent, you need to email Julie Hopkins as soon as possible and let her know the dates of your absences and the classes you will need covered by a substitute. **

Planned Absence:
  • Contact the Department Chair at least five days in advance of the absence. An online absence request form must be submitted through Exponent HR, and approved by the supervisor.
  • Prepare a meaningful and appropriate assignment which will keep the class on task for the entire period.
  • Prepare a packet (written or electronic) for each substitute including:
    • Precise and clear instructions.
    • Class lists and/or seating charts.
    • All necessary materials.
    • Attendance list.
    • Any important policies and procedures the substitute should be aware of
  • Submit the entire substitution packet to the Department Chair and the Substitute Coordinator (Julie Hopkins) by the close of the school day prior to the absence, and place a second copy in your Substitute Folder.
Absence Due to Unforeseen Circumstances:
  • Contact the Substitute Coordinator (Julie Hopkins) and your Department Chair as soon as possible (but no later than 7:00 AM on the morning of the absence) and, if he/she is not available, be sure to leave a voicemail message.
  • Provide an assignment which will occupy the class for the entire period.
  • Class rosters will be provided by the Principal’s office.
  • Submit an online absence request form through the Online Employer program upon return.

Teachers may not arrange for their own substitute coverage. However, teachers may recommend or request possible substitutes for their class.

Personal days may not be taken for more than three consecutive days, unless approved by the Dean of Academics. They also will not be allowed on the day prior to or immediately after a school holiday, days scheduled for end-of-semester or end-of-year exams, or professional or staff development days without prior approval.

Employees will be charged leave as used - even if a substitute is not employed. For purposes of personal illness, illness to an immediate family member, family emergency, or death in the immediate family, leave will be automatically deducted until used up for the year; then accumulated days, if any, will be used until these days are depleted. Any leave taken for which balances are insufficient will result in a deduction from the employee’s paycheck commensurate with the amount of leave taken based on the employee’s daily rate of pay.

If you will be off campus during school hours, you must enter your absence in ExponentHR.  All absences (personal, school business, jury duty) need to be requested and approved in advance, except in unusual circumstances.

At the end of each pay period, absences not already entered into ExponentHR will be entered by the Human Resources Director.

Be sure to leave work for your substitute that follows your lesson plans so your absence will be a positive learning experience for the students. Also, be sure to leave information regarding special assignments which you may have been assigned for your substitute.

Substitutes do not cover duty stations or cohorts.  If you will miss a duty station or cohort, please coordinate coverage with a colleague.

Do not solicit substitute coverage on your own.  Requests can be made to the sub-coordinator.

If you are going to be tardy to school, please contact your department chair.

PSAT Proctors
PSAT should not be used as a personal day off unless it is absolutely necessary. Everyone is expected to be here and help in any way they can. We need all hands on deck to ensure the success of our students.

Roof Work
Over the next few weeks, roofers will be completing their work on the Senior House. There may be some noise and/or a few smells, but they will try to do the noisiest parts during Cardinal Breaks. We appreciate your patience as we continue this project.

Senior Panoramic Picture
Any Faculty, Staff, and Administrators, who wish to be in the Senior Panoramic Photograph need to be in the big gym this Tuesday (9/26) during Cardinal Break!
