Advice from Academics
The Primacy-Recency Effect
Research shows that students learn BEST what comes first, NEXT-BEST what comes last, and LEAST from what comes in the middle of learning time. That’s why CHUNKING is so important in long class periods! You need more “beginnings” and “endings” to maximize engagement and learning. This article is terrific
for the info and the visuals - and practical
advice - about this effect.

Club Photos for Yearbook
For planning and verification purposes, PLEASE email Steve Fountain the name of the club you sponsor and the best day and time to have everyone together for a photo. He will also need a list of members. Thank you!

Key Procedure Update
Scope:
The Safety Manager is responsible for issuing and loaning out key(s). Due to the sensitive nature of the keys, it is critical to be handled in a security-conscious manner. As such, all keys will be strictly accounted for and duplicates will not be made.
Issuing Procedure:
For classroom/sports fields/office keys, an email from the Department Chair/Athletic Director, naming the employee who is to receive a key, must be sent to the Safety Manager. Once approved and logged in the system, TDI will then make the requested key. The Safety Manager will then hand deliver the key to the employee, the employee will send over an email with the exact key(s) they have received. If the employee leaves for any reason, he/she must hand over their keys to the Human Resources Director.

For master keys, an email from the Dean of Fine Arts/Dean of Academics/Dean of Formation, naming the employee who is to receive a key, must be sent to the Principal. Once approved by the Principal, an email will be sent to the Safety Manager and the same process outlined above will be followed.
